A Bachelorette Party for the Book Lover
We all know a bachelorette party is about getting the bridal party together, celebrating the bride, and having fun. But what if you’re a bride that just loves to read? Maybe settling in with a bottle of wine, good books, and your close friends sounds like the perfect weekend for you. I’m here to help you plan it.
San Diego, California
San Diego has beautiful weather, year-round, a great bar scene, and amazing ocean views. The trifecta, if you ask me.
Balboa Park
Where to Stay
If you’re looking for somewhere that’s funky, fun, and definitely unique, look no further than The Lafayette Hotel. Located between the two amazing neighborhoods of University Heights and North Park, this hotel is in a perfect location. You won’t run out of places to eat or things to do in this area. Plus, the hotel has an awesome pool and pool bar. When you and the group are ready to take your reading outside, The Lafayette Hotel has the perfect spot.
Where to Get Coffee or Tea
Lovesong Coffee is a great location to bring the bachelorette party. The vibes are open, airy, and a little whimsical. They offer coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages so it’s perfect for any time of day. For an Instagram-worthy coffee shop, this is your place.
Before you find a place to settle in and read, walk over to Verbatim Books (just steps away from Lovesong Coffee). This new and used bookstore has whatever you’re looking for. They have books lining the walls, so I have no doubt you’ll find your next read there.
Where to Read
Once you have your next TBR, I suggest making your way to Balboa Park. Whether you have a large or small bachelorette party, there will be enough room for all of you to sit down and read. Balboa Park has a plethora of things to do and places to see. With free and paid areas of the park, you’ll be able to find some seating or make your own with a picnic blanket somewhere with a beautiful view.
Phoenix, Arizona
Phoenix is one of those go-to spots for a bachelorette party. Arizona has a reputation for being relaxed, luxurious, and fun.
Where to Stay
I’m a sucker for a Kimpton hotel. Each one has such a unique personality and they usually bring something to the table that other hotels don’t. In this case, the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix does it with the Eden Rooftop Bar. They have large tables, fire pit seating, and a great menu. This way, you and the bachelorette party can all gather around after a day of reading and discuss your books.
First Draft Book Bar
Where to Get Coffee or Tea
Warm wood and cozy vibes flow out of The Coffee Builders. Beautiful pastries and unique coffee are easy to find here. Another great spot is First Draft Book Bar. It has a bar within a bookstore. But they don’t only serve drinks, they also have coffee, tea and pastries.
Where to Read
Hance Park is a 32-acre public park near Downtown Phoenix. With it’s wide open space, Japanese Friendship Gardens, and beautiful scenery, it’s a great place to read. If it gets a little too warm, you can walk over to the Phoenix Public Library and read in their reading room.
Salt Lake City, Utah
Salt Lake City is another one of those destinations where you will never run out of things to do.
View from the Salt Lake City Main Library
Where to Stay
For a hotel with cool stuff to do, rooms that can sleep your whole bachelorette party, and plenty of reading spaces, you have to check out evo Hotel. No matter the hobbies of those in your group, evo Hotel has something for everyone. From hang-out spaces perfect for reading, a skate park, and a bouldering gym, it has you covered.
Where to Get Coffee or Tea
I’m not sure how they do it, but Cupla Coffee manages to combine inviting and industrial elements into one cute coffee shop. They have plenty of seating for you and your entire bachelorette party, plus a cute little library-looking corner. This is definitely a must-see if you’re in the area.
Where to Read
The rooftop terrace at the Salt Lake City Main Library has 360-degree views of the Salt Lake Valley and Wasatch Mountains. Though it is closed during inclement weather and it closes 30 minutes before sunset, the view is hard to beat when you can be up there.
Your Bachelorette Party Wrapped
There are a ton of ways to execute your bachelorette party, but remember it’s about the bride! If you’re an avid reader, then why not go on a little reading retreat with your bridal party? Enjoy!
